Bereavement VisitingFollowing a training and information afternoon in October, when we were helpfully addressed by members of the Brighton and Hove Bereavement Group, we have a Bereavement Visiting Service to follow up on funerals undertaken by members of our Ministry Team. We hope in this way to keep in touch with families who perhaps do not often or even ever attend church, but who have suffered recent bereavement, in order to ensure they know that the love of God is there to surround them at this bleak time. Our principle Bereavement Visitor will shortly embark on a longer course in Bereavement Support which will supplement her existing pastoral skills. At present this service is in its infancy, but we were delighted recently to be involved in the first stages of an ecumenical approach to Bereavement Support involving the other churches in Shoreham. For the time being we are at the early planning stages, but hope that in future the different churches in Shoreham will be able to refer people to the most appropriate sort of support following a bereavement. In the meantime, if you feel the need to talk to someone about a recent loss, please don't hesitate to contact Reverend Gail Souppouris by phone or email (revdgail.souppouris@ntlworld.com or phone 01273 453768). |
