10 Oclock Rock

10 O’Clock Rock

All about us!

10 O’Clock Rock is the Church of the Good Shepherd’s Sunday School.  We meet every Sunday in the church hall at – you’ve guessed it – 10 O’Clock!

10 O’Clock Rock coincides with the Church’s Parish Holy Communion Service, and the children go into Church near the end of the service for Holy Communion.

We are a very lively group of young people all meeting together to learn about faith in a fun, friendly and creative way.  There are currently over 50 children on the register.  Activities during the morning include stories, craft, songs, games, discussion, prayer and puppet ministry.

Age Groups!

There are four age groups at 10 O’Clock Rock:-

Shrimps

Age 2 and a half to school year 1

Turtles

School years 2 and 3

Sharks

School years 4, 5 and 6

The Cupcake Club

The Cupcake Club is an older youth group that comes under the umbrella of 10 O’Clock Rock, but has its own programme of events for Sunday mornings.  For information on The Cupcake Club please click on this link. (Whoops! not working yet - watch this space!)

Events throughout the year!

As well as the usual 10 O’Clock Rock activities, the children are regularly involved in Church services, even, on some occasions, helping to plan the content.

The last service the children planned and led was the Harvest service in October, which was fantastic.  The Cupcake Club wrote the Sermon and the prayers, and the younger children sang and performed a wonderful Harvest song, and displayed art work.

The children also performed a brilliant version of ‘The Good Samaritan’ on Mothering Sunday this year.

The children also love to raise money for charity.  Their cake stalls are very popular with the congregation!

We also ran a course, during the first term of this year, called ‘Welcome to the Lord’s Table’.  The course prepares children to receive Holy Communion, and on Easter Sunday sixteen of our 10 O’Clock Rockers, having completed the course, received their first Holy Communion.

At the end of the summer term we hold our annual picnic, with fun and games on the grass.

Our biggest event of the year is our amazing Nativity, performed by the 10 O’Clock Rock children.  With an original script and original songs and music, this is not to be missed!  This is a really wonderful service, when it becomes impossible to park anywhere near the Church!
