Fifth Sunday of Easter

7th May 2023

We celebrate the Coronation of King Charles as part of our all-age worship this Sunday. We end the 10am service by singing the National Anthem. The flower team are decorating the church with red, white, and blue displays in honour of this historic occasion in the life of our nation.  They have also placed a Coronation Book on a table in the side chapel. It is for your prayers and blessings for King Charles and Queen Camilla, and our nation. The book will remain there for two Sundays 7th May and 14th May.

Collect

Risen Christ,

your wounds declare your love for the world

and the wonder of your risen life:

give us compassion and courage

to risk ourselves for those we serve,

to the glory of God the Father.

Readings

Acts 7.55-60, Psalm 31.1-5,15-16, 1 Peter 2.2-10, John 14.1-14

Coronation Prayer

Gracious God, in company with our King, we rededicate ourselves to your service. Take our minds and think through them, take our lips and speak through them, take our hearts and set them on fire with love for you and your kingdom; that here we may have your peace, and in the world to come may see you face to face; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Admission to Holy Communion During June we will be running a short course on Sunday afternoons (2pm-3.30pm, 4th, 11th, 25th June and 2nd July in the Parish Centre) to prepare children and young people to receive Holy Communion for the first time. In line with guidance from the Diocese of Chichester, we welcome all children from the age of 7 upwards to be admitted to Holy Communion, with the rite of Confirmation usually following in adolescence. Our aim is to gather a group from across the benefice. Please speak to Revd Steve or Revd Jane if interested.
