The Healing Ministry

You are very welcome to the Church of the Good Shepherd, Shoreham Beach for our Healing Service, which is held on the first Sunday of every month at 6pm.

We hope that you will feel at home, whether it is your first visit or you are a regular. The service is very informal and inclusive. Please feel free to sit, stand or kneel during the service as you feel most comfortable and if you need to leave before the end of the service that is fine.

RELAX, REST AND RESPOND

During the service there will be an opportunity for you to receive the ministry of the Laying on of Hands with prayer for Healing if you wish. The Ministry Team will have met together before the service to pray and to minister to each other, because we all have need of healing of either body, mind or spirit. They also ask for the guidance of the Holy Spirit as they have no power themselves, all healing comes from God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

At this service we do not counsel or offer advice; if you wish to give your name and a short explanation of what your needs are, the minister will lay hands on you and pray for you, but if you wish to say nothing that is O.K. and the minister will pray as they feel led. If you would like to talk to someone, please ask one of the ministers of healing at the end of the service.

When we come to the time of Ministry, the team will come forward to pray for those in the Healing Book and then, after a moment of prayer, will be ready to receive anyone who wishes to have ministry. There are usually several ministers at the front and one in each of the side chapels. If you wish to go to one of the side chapels we suggest that you come and sit in the front row at the time of ministry so that you are able to see when they are free. If you prefer to receive ministry where you are sitting, there is usually one person who is in the congregation and will come to you—just catch their eye!

There is no collection at a Healing Service but there is a box at the back of the church for donations to the St Francis Fund, which helps parishioners in need. You are welcome to make a donation if you so wish and if you are able to Gift Aid that is wonderful. There are small green envelopes for this purpose.

Some months we have a Eucharist (Holy Communion) at the Healing Service, and on these occasions, the Sacrament of Anointing is also offered.
