Eighth Sunday after Trinity
7th August 2022
‘For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.’ Luke 12.34. Image created by Revd Jess, see Bible Art below for commentary
This Sunday at 10am we have an all-age service. In the evening at 6pm we have our Taizé for healing service. In both services there is a theme this week about treasure, and how we discover what matters most to us in life. We hope you can join us.
Collect
Lord God,
your Son left the riches of heaven
and became poor for our sake:
when we prosper save us from pride,
when we are needy save us from despair,
that we may trust in you alone;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Readings

Newcomer’s Afternoon Tea at the vicarage Sunday 21st August 3.30pm-5pm
There have been quite a few new people join the church in the past two years. We haven’t offered any newcomer social events to properly welcome you all because of the difficulties with covid. Revd Jane and John would love to catch-up by inviting any who have joined the church recently to an afternoon tea at the vicarage. This includes newcomers to the Tuesday, Saturday and Taizé services, as well as Sunday mornings. It will be a chance to meet other new people and learn more about the Good Shepherd. Please let Revd Jane know if you would like to attend by emailing her: bartlett.jane@ntlworld.com
Please indicate whether you have any dietary preferences (gluten free, vegan).
Prayer Ministry A reminder that our healing ministry team offer individual healing prayer every Sunday after the 10am service (except the first Sunday of the month). This is in the side chapel. If you would like prayer, you are welcome to receive this personal support.
Mini Pilgrimage to Chichester Cathedral

We will travel on the train/taxi to Stoughton and then back to Shoreham by train from Chichester. Bring a picnic lunch. There is the option to go to Evening Prayer at the cathedral. Thank you to Linda Caffyn who has taken on the co-ordination of the flower rota. We are grateful for a donation that has enabled us to refresh our stock of silk flowers. We are also pleased that two new people have joined the flower rota, and Linda hopes to have fresh flowers for special occasions once the new team and rota has settled in.
Blessings and prayers for you all this week. I work half-time and the days I am usually available are Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday (morning).
