Good Shepherd Sunday
30th April 2023
The joy of our Eastertide season continues as we celebrate Good Shepherd Sunday, a day when we remember that Jesus described himself at a good shepherd. We welcome Archdeacon Martin Lloyd Williams to preach and preside at our 10am service. Good Shepherd Sunday is an opportunity for us to celebrate the life of our church. A community meal follows coffee time, for those who have already booked with Lesley Ward. Please remember to bring your crockery and cutlery.
Collect
Risen Christ,
faithful shepherd of your Father’s sheep:
teach us to hear your voice
and to follow your command,
that all your people may be gathered into one flock,
to the glory of God the Father.
Readings
Genesis 7, Acts 2.42-47, Psalm 23,1 Peter 2.19-25, John 10.1-10
Sealights runs week – the group is being led by one of our parent volunteers, Christy. We thank Christy for her help during this time as we wait to announce the appointment of a new children and families co-ordinator.
APCM and new PCC members Thank you to everyone who attended our APCM meeting last Sunday. Angela Tritton and Kay Haffenden were re-elected as church wardens. We welcome Jo Edwards onto deanery synod. Our new PCC members are Lesley Ward, Louise Durrant, Dave Worrall and David Edey. David Edey is also our new safeguarding officer.
Admission to Holy Communion During June we will be running a short course on Sunday afternoons (2pm-3.30pm, 4th, 11th, 25th June and 2nd July in the Parish Centre) to prepare children and young people to receive Holy Communion for the first time. In line with guidance from the Diocese of Chichester, we welcome all children from the age of 7 upwards to be admitted to Holy Communion, with the rite of Confirmation usually following in adolescence. Our aim is to gather a group from across the benefice. Please speak to Revd Steve or Revd Jane if interested.
Good Shepherd banner This will be on display for Good Shepherd Sunday. If you would like to have your name or the name of loved ones added to the banner, please speak to Chris Diebel. She will do this for a donation to the church, of any amount. Thank you to Chris. You can email her: chrstndiebel@gmail.com
