Revd Steve The date of Revd Steve’s licensing has now been confirmed. He will be licensed as Rector by the Bishop of Horsham in a service at St Andrew’s, West Tarring on Monday 2nd October at 7pm. Revd Steve’s final Sunday at the Good Shepherd will be 27th August. He will be presiding and preaching and there will be opportunities to express our thanks and say farewell afterwards. Ahead of that final Sunday, you can contribute to our ‘goodbye’ for Steve by adding a message to his leaving card. Gudrun Hansen, from St Mary’s, is kindly coordinating this. We would be delighted to have some more photos and messages to include.
Please send any photos or messages for Steve to Gudrun (gudrunhansen96@gmail.com) ASAP and by Sunday 27th August.
Healing Prayer is offered most Sundays after the 10am in the side chapel.

Bob’s Card Sale On Sunday 20th August after the 10am service in the hall during coffee. Variety of cards available priced £1.50, £1.00 and 80p. Also, a selection of Gift Tags priced £1 for 5 packs. All proceeds to Church of the Good Shepherd. (Any old cards for recycling would be much appreciated, please pass onto Bob, or leave in the church porch.) Many thanks for your support.

Beach Social Café takes place in church, Tuesdays 10.30am-12noon. All welcome.

Changes to services There is no Saturday morning meditation during August.

Hall Redecoration The church hall is currently being redecorated. Thanks to the wardens for sorting out this much needed work.

An invitation from St Mary de Haura to join their pilgrimage to Westminster Abbey, Saturday October 14th.  They are travelling by coach leaving from the Shoreham Centre at 9am and will return about 7.30pm to the Centre. They are intending to take part in the morning Eucharist and Evensong and should leave after this at around 4.30pm. The cost is £30.00 per person and they have some seats available should any of the congregation from the Good Shepherd wish to join them.

If anyone is interested phone Jayne Crompton on 01903 232718 or email  jc.crompton @yahoo.co.uk

Sand dance September 2nd, 6pm-8pm The Shoreham Beach Residents are hosting a Sand Dance which will take place on the beach at low tide opposite the Good Shepherd. Our role is to provide refreshments in the church hall - Pimms and soft drinks. We would like some help, preferably two small teams of people serving for just 1 hour. It’s a great opportunity for people to get to know the church and for us to support a community event. If you can help please contact the wardens Angela or Kay

Creationtide Talk A large group from the church studied Bishop Nicholas Holtam’s book on climate change ‘Sleepers Wake’ at Advent.

We are delighted that he is coming to the benefice to do a talk for Creationtide. The talk is being offered across the Hove Deanery and all are welcome.

Pet Blessing Sept 3rd, 3pm

A collection is taken for the Dogs Trust and tea and cake follow in the hall sold in aid of the St Francis Fund. Bring your pet or a cuddly toy or photograph of a favourite animal.

Also on September 2nd at 11am Revd Jess is organising a ‘wader watch’ with the Shoreham District Ornithological Society. Please contact Jess if you would like to attend either event. Email: j.aidley@gmail.com
