Fourteenth Sunday after Trinity

18th September 2022

'I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings should be made for everyone, for kings and all who are in high positions.' 1 Timothy 2.1-2

This Sunday is our second week in which we have Holy Communion services during the period of national mourning for our Queen.  The worship uses elements of special liturgy that has been prepared by the Church of England. We have changed the liturgical colours to purple to mark the solemnity of the occasion.

You are additionally invited to a town civic memorial service at St Mary de Haura on Saturday 17th September at 11am.

We return to the normal services provided for Ordinary Time after the Queen’s funeral. May she rest in peace and rise in glory.

Collect

Merciful Father and Lord of all life, we praise you that we are made in your image and reflect your truth and light. We thank you for the life of our late Sovereign Lady Queen Elizabeth, for the love she received from you and showed among us. Above all, we rejoice at your gracious promise to all your servants, living and departed, that we shall rise again at the coming of Christ. And we ask that in due time we may share with your servant Elizabeth that clearer vision promised to us in the same Christ our Lord; who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, world without end.

There is also a collection of money for the local homelessness charity Turning Tides after the harvest services. Please give as you are able.

Generosity Week

We shall be joining in with the Church of England’s Generosity Week this year with a special Sunday service on 9th October. This is a time when we reflect on the generous God we believe in and how generosity is at the heart of our faith. We welcome Revd Andrew Smith, the Generous Giving Adviser from the Diocese of Chichester, who will preach for us.

And finally…

A book of condolence for her Majesty has been provided in church for all who would like to sign.

Blessings and prayers for you all this week. I work half-time and the days I am usually available are Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday (morning).
