Second Sunday of Easter
24th April 2022
'He breathed on them and said to them, 'Receive the Holy Spirit.' John 20.22. Image by Revd Jess (see below for details).
We are now in the season of Eastertide, 50 days stretching all the way until Pentecost. It is a glorious time of celebration and resurrection joy. We hope you will join us.
The Common Cup
We are again offering the chalice and wine during the service. This is optional. When you come forward to receive the bread, if you stay in your place and wait, the minister of communion will offer the chalice. If you do not wish to receive, simply move away as soon as you have received the bread. Please don’t intinct (dip your bread in the wine).
Collect
Risen Christ,
for whom no door is locked, no entrance barred:
open the doors of our hearts,
that we may seek the good of others
and walk the joyful road of sacrifice and peace,
to the praise of God the Father.
Readings
Acts 5.27-32, Psalm 118.14-29 or
Psalm 150, Revelation 1.4-8,
John 20.19-31

There is a sign-up sheet from this Sunday, after the services. Thank you to Lesley for doing the catering.

We would appreciate taking bookings and payment before the event so that we have a better idea for ordering food and to secure your place at this previously very popular event.

Easy Fundraising
This is an easy way for us to raise money for the church. Every time your shop online with many major retailers a small donation can be made to the church. It takes only a few minutes to register and it’s very easy. Go to easyfundraising.org.uk and search for the Church of the Good Shepherd Shoreham by Sea when looking for your ‘cause’. We currently have 33 people registered on behalf of the church. It would be fantastic to get more.
Messy Church
Our next Messy Church is Saturday 21st May, 3pm to 5pm. We explore the theme of ‘friendship’.
Ladies that Breakfast, Saturday 30th April. Breakfast 9am, talk 10am. Southwick Methodist Church.
The speaker is Sheila Powell ‘See I am doing a new thing’ (Isaiah 43.19). Places are limited. Please book with Rita on 01273 276617 or Rosemary 01273 595588. Email ladiesthatbreakfast@gmail.com. Donations welcome.
Ascension Day on Mill Hill
We celebrate Ascension Day with a short reflective service at Mill Hill Nature Reserve, followed by a bring-your-own picnic breakfast. We meet at the upper car park on Mill Hill at 8am on Thursday 26th May. Bring a camping chair or rug. Please lift share, walk or cycle where possible. If the weather is wet we will meet in church – a message will be posted on the church website on Wednesday evening if we are to meet in church.
And finally…
The weather was perfect for our first Easter sunrise service on the beach. Despite the early hour it proved very popular, with between 60 to 70 people in attendance. It was a wonderful celebration.
I work half-time and the usual days when I am available are Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday mornings. Blessings and prayers for you all this Easter week. Revd Jane
