Shoreham Foodbank - URGENT Appeal

They are desperately short of
tinned meat, tinned fish and tinned vegetables.

Are you able to help
by dropping one or more of these items

The Mission to Seafarers: A Reminder

I will be sending another parcel of knitting
from the Church of the Good Shepherd at Easter.

Please let me have hats, scarves and gloves
that you have knitted for the Mission by then.

Many thanks,

Songs of Praise: A Plea from the Diocese

Songs of Praise is now being transmitted at 1:15pm on Sundays.

This is not a good time for many people -
particularly those in residential homes.

A petition has been opened,
asking the BBC to restore the programme
to its original time.

To add your name to it, please click HERE.

Dolls Needed: A Request from Andrea Weller

As you may know, I work at Worthing Hospital.
We often have patients who have dementia.
I would like to have a supply of dressed dolls to give out
to such patients in order to calm them.

They do not need to be new but must be in good condition.

If you can help, please bring them to church
and give them to Sheila Powell.

Thanks in anticipation,

Altar Servers at the 10:00am Sunday Service

The number of people able to act as Acolytes and Crucifers
has dropped; we would dearly like new members to join us.

The duties are not onerous, and these roles give an opportunity
not only to serve the church but also to develop relationships
within the church with both lay and ordained members.

If you are interested, or would like more information,
please speak to Judy Short after the service.

Adur East Lions Club: "Message in your Wallet"

The Lions Club gave us "Message in a Tube" for our fridges
which ensures that vital medical information about us
is available to emergency services
in case of an accident at home.

They now bring us "Message in your Wallet",
so that we are also covered when we are out and about.

They are available in the church porch for people who would like one -
for themselves, a relative or a friend.

Church Cleaning: Volunteers Urgently Needed

Pauline would dearly like help with the church cleaning
which she had previously been doing almost single-handedly.

Some volunteers have kindly come forward,
but more are needed.

Ideally, she would like to hear from people prepared to
form teams of two for the cleaning of church and vestry
one week every month.

If you can help, please speak to her -
and make her a very happy bunny!

Craft and Fellowship Group: Appeal for Materials

The Craft and Fellowship Group need:

  • buttons
  • wool
  • embroidery silks
  • ribbons
  • remnants of material/lining material

If you are able to provide any of these items, we will be very grateful.

Please speak to Sheila or Angela

Children's Society Coffee Morning: from 10:00am, THU, 25 APR    at Joy's (3 Kings Walk)

Joy - with the assistance of Chris and Michael - will be hosting this annual event.
Please come along with your House Box and stay for coffee.

If you are also able to spare a couple of hours
to empty the boxes and count the money - always a convivial affair -
your help will be much appreciated.

We look forward to seeing you.

[ If you cannot make the day,
bring your House Box to church before then,

Chris and Michael

Annual Parochial Church Meeting: 11:30am, SUN, 28 APR    church hall (after coffee)

The meeting is in two parts:

  • Election of Church Wardens
  • Annual business meeting of the Church of the Good Shepherd

Please come to this important annual review
of the mission and activities of our church... but remember:
only those whose name is on the new Electoral Roll
are eligible to attend.

Glitzy Afternoon Tea: 2:30 - 5:30pm, SAT, 04 MAY    Good Shepherd hall

This event is a fundraiser towards Christian Aid Week (12-18 MAY).

You can help by donating a bottle of prosecco or a raffle prize -
preferably chocolates, biscuits or bottles:
There will be boxes at the back of church
over the next few weeks.

Alternatively, Liz Beeston would be very grateful
for help at the event washing up the bone china.

There may still be tickets available: speak to Hilary.

For more details, click HERE.

Christian Aid Week: SUN, 12 MAY - SAT, 18 MAY

There are plenty of opportunities to help with this year's Christian Aid Week fundraising:

  • Counting out collection envelope
  • Setting up the Christian Aid notice boards
  • Collecting house to house, by yourself or with a friend - in your street or further afield

Watch out for the sign-up sheets for street collections.

Thanks in anticipation for your support for this amazing charity.
